The series follows Perilus, a Roman boy who loves chariot racing and dreams of riding in the Circus Maximus himself one day. He's got a messy family which always seems to get in all sorts of trouble, and it's up to him to save them from peril every time. But he is not alone. He's got the help of two trusty friends: Croakbag the amazing talking raven and Tiddles the widdling elephant.
