Sam Sedgman is the brilliant author behind one of our favourite middle-grade series: Adventures on Trains. But that's not his only series! Isaac Turner Investigates is another fantastic mystery middle-grade series packed full of adventure, friendship and, of course, secrets.
The books follow a young twelve-year-old boy called Isaac Turner, who loves science and engineering, taking things apart and seeing how they work. His father is a horologist (the keeper of the Big Ben clock), and he suddenly goes missing the very night the clocks go back. And so his mystery-solving skills are set to good use. In each book, together with his friend Hattie, the rebellious daughter of the speaker of the House of Commons, Isaac has a new mystery to solve and a new city to explore, as well as a new area of scientific discovery to unravel, from clockwork to mapmaking.
The books approach themes of bravery, politics, family, friendship and science.
