Ranger's Apprentice is a much-loved upper middle-grade fantasy series written by John Flanagan. It has sold millions of copies since its first release in 2004 and is often compared to Percy Jackson. 

The books are great for reading alone from 9 upwards or for sharing together. They follow the many adventures of a young orphan named Will, who is chosen to become an apprentice Ranger, a warrior destined to serve the King of Araluen. Along his journey, he will also make true friends, including his mentor Halt and his peer Horace. The books explore themes of good and evil, loyalty and duty, friendship and bravery. We recommend starting with the first book in the series, The Ruins of Gorlan.
