The Last Dragonslayer by Jasper Fforde is a magical fantasy series for middle-grade readers aged 9+.

This trilogy is set in a fantasy world where medieval magic meets the modern day. Written with Jasper Fforde’s trademark surrealist humour, the books are perfect for fans of Terry Pratchett and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, and the first book formed the basis of Sky One’s The Last Dragon Slayer movie special.

The story follows Jennifer Strange - a fifteen year old girl who runs an employment agency for soothsayers and sorcerers in a world where magic is fading. As the value of magic sinks to new lows, Jennifer starts getting visions which predict a huge upheaval - the death of the last dragon at the hands of a dragonslayer, the arrival of Big Magic, and she is at the centre of it all...

You’ll need to read the trilogy in order, starting with book one, or if you have watched the film and are looking for The Last Dragon Slayer sequel, start with book 2 The Song of the Quarkbeast.
