Artemis Fowl is a supernatural action series, full of adventure, humour and danger. Described by author Eoin Colfer as “Die Hard with Fairies”, the award-winning Artemis Fowl books have captivated millions of children since their publication in 2001 and are soon to reach an even larger audience with the highly anticipated Artemis Fowl movie in 2020, directed by Kenneth Branagh.  

Twelve-year-old Artemis Fowl is a criminal mastermind. Stemming from generations of crooks and gangsters, Artemis is cold, cynical and ruthless. Having discovered that fairies might just be real, he plans his first major heist: kidnapping the fairy leader Captain Holly Short for a ransom of fairy gold. But these fairies are not what Artemis is expecting – they are armed, dangerous and very, very angry. 

Our anti-hero goes on to battle formidable fairies, goblin gangs, power-crazed pixies, farting dwarves and more in this brilliant eight-novel fantasy series. We can’t help rooting for the unscrupulous Artemis and, as he fights more and more battles in the supernatural underworld, he becomes less of a devious felon and more of a cunning Robin Hood. This is a coming of age story packed with adventure, where nothing is what you’d expect.
