We really love this series: it makes you laugh, it's full of action and it has fantastic black-and-white illustrations throughout. This is a great stepping-stone series for independent readers moving from chapter books to longer middle grade titles.

Hamish Ellerby may be an ordinary boy who lives in Britain's fourth most boring town, but he's got the weight of the world on his shoulders. Quite literally. The WorldStoppers and their terrifying friends The Terribles are on a mission to destroy the planet, and it's up to Hamish and his friends to stop them time and time again... 

The books in this series are very similar in tone to the work of David Walliams, Roald Dahl and David Baddiel, full of humour and absolute bonkers plotlines.
