Many of us have read Roald Dahl books as children, and are looking to create a new generation of readers and fans of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in our own young children aged 6. Since its first publication, the book has sold over 20 million copies, gone on to become a bestseller and has been revisited through a number of adaptations.

The books follow a young boy named Charlie Bucket, whose life changes forever upon receiving a Golden Ticket in his chocolate bar that will take him into Willy Wonka's magical chocolate factory together with four other lucky winners: Augustus Gloop, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde and Mike Teavee.

The books are whimsical and fantastical in all the best ways: expect chocolate rivers, crafty squirrels, hotels in space! But they also explore more serious themes like the awfulness of greed and the importance of humility, kindness and, of course, imagination.
