Each book is a brilliant retelling of the Artemis Fowl novels, but if you're not already familiar with the genre-busting plot of these stories, here's a very short breakdown. Twelve-year-old Artemis Fowl is a brilliant criminal mastermind. Having discovered that fairies might just be real, he plans his first major heist: kidnapping the fairy leader Captain Holly Short for a ransom of fairy gold. But this only leads him to a series of adventures during which he will meet goblin gangs, power-crazed pixies and farting dwarves. Slowly but surely, our hero becomes less of a devious felon and more of a cunning Robin Hood.
