The story begins with young Lucy Goodly who takes up a job as boot girl at Grave Hall. Here not only does she meet Vonk the Butler, Mrs Crawley the cook and Violet the scullery maid, but she also comes face to face with rather odd things, like magical books and moving statues. In this new magical place, together with its owner, Lord Grave, she will get the chance to put all her detective skills to the test, solving murder mysteries and uncovering dark forces at work.
