Throne of Glass is an award-winning YA series, full of drama, action and romance by bestselling author, Sarah J. Maas.
There are seven books in the main series (eight including the prequel) and you need to read Throne of Glass first. The prequel (Assassin's Blade) is a collection of short stories and can be read later.
Throne of Glass series order:
Book 1: Throne of Glass (2012)
Book 2: Crown of Midnight (2013)
Book 3: Heir of Fire (2014)

The books follow Celaena Sardothien, a beautiful but deadly teenage assassin in the corrupt kingdom of Adarlan. Celaena is eighteen and serving a life sentence in the dark salt mines of Endovier when she is offered a deal. Her freedom in return for a sacrifice – she must represent the prince in a deadly tournament, fighting the most dangerous individuals in the land.
Forced to serve a despotic King she despises, Celaena is faced with tough choices that could impact her and everyone she cares about. Can an assassin redeem herself? And even learn to love? It is clear that she is destined for greatness but first she must root out the evil at the centre of her world.
The series started online, when author Sarah J Maas was just sixteen years old. She has since gone on to write seven books in the series, selling millions of copies worldwide. The final book in the series, Kingdom of Ash came out in 2018. Other Sarah J Maas books include the bestelling YA series A Court of Thorns and Roses.
A Throne of Glass TV show, Queen of Shadows, about Celaena's journey to become Aelin Galathynius, the lost Queen of Terrasen, was announced to be in development by Hulu in 2016, but they have yet to announce a date and, with no sign of a Throne of Glass movie either, it's all about the books for now!
The Throne of Glass series is addictive high- octane fantasy with a strong, independent and fearless female heroine. It is a must for YA lovers and fans of A Game of Thrones, The Hunger Games, Divergent and City of Bones and other magical books.
