The books were conceived as a direct response to the the growing epidemic that is knife violence, with 14-year-old boy as our protagonist. He has his fair share of regrets after living his entire life by the knife. Hence his nickname – Blade. When we meet him, he's living on the quieter side, playing dead, staying away from enemies. But his turbulent past is back to haunt him, and throughout the series he must face those enemies once more to save loved ones, redeem himself and build a more positive future to look forward to.
