Steve Smallman Biography
Steve Smallman has been illustrating children's books for over 30 years and began writing children's stories 10 years ago, now having written over 50 books. He also teaches illustration and mural-painting workshops in schools. The first picture book he wrote was The Lamb Who Came To Dinner which was shortlisted for the Red House Book Awards and Commended in the Sheffield Children's Book Awards. It's been translated into several different languages and turned into a theatre play in Sweden. The singer Meatloaf even read the story on TV.

As a child Steve loved drawing cartoons especially involving animals and it was while he was studying at the Cambridge College of Art and Technology that he was inspired to become a children's book illustrator; he was commissioned to illustrate four books while he was still at college. He has since illustrated for books, comics, magazines, licensed products and for television programmes.

Steve lives with his wife and has four children and seven grandchildren.
