Chris Riddell Biography
Chris Riddell, the 2015-2017 UK Children's Laureate, is an illustrator and political cartoonist for the Observer. Many of his children's books have won a number of major prizes including the 2001, 2004 and 2016 CILIP Kate Greenaway Medals. Goth Girl and the Ghost of a Mouse won the Costa Children's Book Award 2013. His other books include The Emperor of Absurdia, and, with Paul Stewart, the Muddle Earth books, the Scavenger series and the Blobheads series. 

Chris was born in Cape Town, South Africa in 1962 but moved to England with his family when he was just one. He discovered a love for art and drawing from an early age and went on to study illustration at Brighton Polytechnic. Chris lives in Brighton with his wife and children.
