"Jumpstart" workbooks link closely to the readers and develop phonics, spelling, grammar and writing skills. Attractively illustrated with up-to-date full colour artwork, the readers are fully supported by big books, workbooks, photocopiable copymasters, teacher notes and flashcards. The core remedial strategy is explicit phonics teaching to develop semantic, syntactic, graphophonic and bibliographic cues. A core vocabulary of high frequency words will be presented progressively. "Jumpstart" provides graded fiction, poetry and non-fiction readers plus support work for pupils aged 6-11 who are identified as struggling readers. It provides 'street-smart' high-interest/low reading age books whose subject matter is skewed towards attracting boy readers. The programme is divided into three stages, comprising 18 core books each, which are subdivided into 3 sets each - 54 Readers, 9 Workbooks, 2 Big Books, 1 Pack x 120 Flashcards and 3 Resource Books.
