In Sam Pig's household, Brock is the only one who is allowed to wind the clock. But when he is away it falls silent, and Sam, missing its friendly tick tock voice, tries to wind it up. But it breaks, and Sam sets out to find a new clock in time for Brock's return, and gets help from a kind witch.

Alison Uttley, (1884 - 1976) born in Derbyshire, took much inspiration from her love of the countryside. She wrote over 100 books, her most famous being the Little Grey Rabbit series, A Country Child and A Traveller in Time.
