Their grandfather gives them four important aspects of what a mans role is, and then he takes them on a trip to the library to retrace the path that led their dad and many other African-American men on the path to not being able to fulfill those roles. It is an informative, yet simple book that will open the reader's eyes and give them a new take on what happened in the past that has created such a broken present.
