The story begins in a small West African town.
The Okoh family (with Steven, Bernie, and Abigail) have to leave their home when the ruthless businessman, Piranha, buys the area and move for a while to Uncle’s solitary house deep in the forest. The area near the Walking Hills has a bad reputation that Baba’s village carefully maintains. The children, especially Bernie, try to find out what is going on there as strange events happen around them. Steven learns about a new kind of history from their friend Prof. At last, still unsatisfied, the family return to town. The secret of the past is known at last from Prof and they are promised a share in the next one.
