Sam is not only the smallest boy in his class, he is skinny, has red hair and struggles with school work. He has a very strange home life, living part of the time with his rather batty grandma, and part of the time with his morose and sad dad. He puts up with bullying from Toughie Wilson and his mates because he doesn't know what else to do. But when he starts finding strange scraps of shiny paper inscribed with meaningless letters, the adventures he goes through give him the courage to beat Toughie at his own game. If you remember your chemistry lessons, you might realise before Sam does that the letters are not 'magical' in quite the way he things they are. This is a celebration of science.
Kids will love this hilarious fairy tale adventure packed with clever twists, familiar characters and page-turning fun.
