The story describes Jacob, a 12-year-old boy auditioning for a part in a musical. He can sing, but he has never danced before. The reader is taken on a journey with Jacob while the dancing teacher instructs him to do a sequence of jazz steps. At the end of the process, she reads out a list of children who have qualified to be in the musical.
