Classification: Insects shows children how to identify and group insects according to their characteristics. It answers questions such as what is an insect? Where do insects live? What do insects eat? And how do insects move about? Along with many others. The book looks at insects from butterflies and beetles to wasps and ants and their young, as well as some more unusual amphibians such as hawk moth caterpillars and glowworms. It also offers advice on keeping insects as pets. The book also contains a useful scale to demonstrate the size of many insects in comparison to a human hand, along with a topic web, a glossary and some suggestions for extension activities. Other titles in the series include Classification: Birds, Classification: Insects, Classification: Reptiles, Classification: Mammals and Classification: Fish.
