"Rat-a-tat-tat" is a Channel Four schools TV series, used by 25 per cent of primary schools in the UK. Channel Four commissioned Oxford University Press to produce three fill-in phonics workbooks, to offer a progression of phonics teaching linked to the NLS framework, based on the picture books used in the series. The workbooks therefore offer picture-book pages on the left-hand page, and phonics exercises on the right-hand page, progressing in difficulty through the 3 years of KS1.
